Reading note · CLSA / ACDS

The Book Prize description accepts monographs and edited volumes, including books from Canadian and international publishers. It recognises scholarship in Canada or by Canadian authors, across approaches to law and society. Self-nominations are accepted.

Check the work before preparing a file

The book must be in English or French, or an English/French translation, and have a publication date in the calendar year before the award ceremony. Page proofs are not accepted. The rules limit single-authored works by the same author in a year, while permitting two works when one or both are jointly authored.

A complete nomination route

Prepare a support letter including a synopsis. Supporting documents must be in English or French in DOC, RTF or PDF. Book copies go directly to the committee chair; the description says an address is provided after nomination. Allow for international shipping if committee members live abroad.

Check the edition’s deadlines

The obtained description requires postmarking by 15 February and receipt by 1 March before the relevant award ceremony. Confirm the current cycle and committee address with the Association rather than applying these undated rules to a new year automatically.
